Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Setup and Equipment Management
- Assist in setting up the kitchen with cooking utensils and equipment, ensuring readiness for food preparation.
Recipe Preparation and Ingredient Management
- Assist in studying each recipe and gathering all necessary ingredients for food preparation.
Timely Cooking and Food Preparation
- Aid in cooking food in a timely manner, following established recipes and quality standards.
Task Assistance and Kitchen Support
- Assist the Chef in delegating tasks to kitchen staff and providing support and guidance as needed.
Communication Support with Front of House
- Assist in communicating with wait staff about daily specials and menu changes effectively.
Plate Presentation and Visual Appeal
- Support in ensuring appealing plate presentation, focusing on visual aesthetics and attention to detail.
Kitchen Supervision and Team Support
- Provide support to the kitchen team and assist in maintaining an efficient workflow.
Recipe Adaptation and Menu Assistance
- Assist in modifying recipes to meet customers’ dietary needs or preferences, under the guidance of the Chef.
Inventory Management Assistance
- Aid in monitoring food stock levels and assisting with placing orders to replenish inventory as needed.
Food Safety and Quality Control Support
- Help in checking the freshness of food items and discarding any expired or spoiled ingredients.
Culinary Creativity and Innovation Support
- Assist in experimenting with recipes and suggesting new ingredients or menu items under the direction of the Chef.
Health and Safety Compliance Support
- Support in ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area.
Food Waste Management and Sanitation Assistance
- Assist in discarding expired and spoiled food items stored in the stock rooms, refrigerators, and freezers.
- Support in performing basic cleaning duties and ensuring workstations are properly sanitized.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment, such as line cook or culinary assistant, is required.
- Culinary education or certification from a recognized culinary institution is a plus.
- Passion for the culinary arts and a desire to learn and grow in a professional kitchen environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow instructions from the Chef.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining food quality and safety standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
